NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is a multi-specialty medical, dental, behavioral health and human services agency located in North Minneapolis. NorthPoint strives to improve the physical and socio-economic health of our North Minneapolis community through an integrated model of health and human services.
For more than 50 years, NorthPoint has been making health happen for North Minneapolis.
Now we need your voice and leadership—join the NorthPoint Community Board to help shape the next 50.
As a community board member, you’ll set the organization’s strategic direction and establish policies that ensure it operates effectively. A majority of our board must be people who receive our healthcare services, and we work to ensure the board’s composition reflects the communities we serve.
We are seeking individuals with experience in the following areas:
- Marketing
- Finance
- Fundraising
- Health Quality
- Programming
Serving on NorthPoint's Community Board will provide you with opportunities for: Leadership. Advocacy. Equity. Networking.
Position responsibilities include:
- Setting the strategic direction of NorthPoint’s mission, vision and values
- Approving NorthPoint’s operating budgets
- Adopting health care policies and NorthPoint’s scope of services
- Overseeing NorthPoint’s CEO
- Setting the strategy and composition of the Board of Directors
- Monitoring and making recommendations for NorthPoint’s finances and quality assurance
- Facilitating the development of expertise within NorthPoint
- Examining performance standards to evaluate NorthPoint’s operations
- Serving as advocates and spokespeople for NorthPoint within the community when needed
Board members attend all required monthly meetings in addition to ad hoc and committee meetings. Board members are encouraged to serve on committees, which may meet monthly or quarterly.
Board members should represent the demographics and communities served by NorthPoint’s clinic and either live or work in the community. Additionally, 51% of Board members must be NorthPoint patients. Board Members are elected to serve a 3-year term and can serve 3 consecutive terms for a maximum of 9 years.

NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is a multi-specialty medical, dental, behavioral health and human services agency located in North Minneapolis. NorthPoint strives to improve the physical and socio-economic health of our North Minneapolis community through an integrated model of health and human services. The NorthPoint Board of Directors is responsible for governance and strategic direction of the nonprofit and shared governance of health services with Hennepin County.
Membership
Board members are elected to serve a 3-year term and can serve 3 consecutive terms for a maximum of 9 years. Members should represent the demographic of the clinic population, live, or work in the community. Additionally, 51% of board members must be patients of the clinic.
Note: Board members cannot be employed by NorthPoint Health & Wellness Inc. or Hennepin County or have an immediate family member that is employed by these entities.
Frequency of meetings
The board meetings are held monthly on the 2nd Monday of each month from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. The meetings include a virtual option for attendance. There are additional ad hoc and committee meetings.
Attendance
Board members are expected to attend all board meetings. The absence of any board member from three (3) board meetings in a calendar year without notice will be considered a resignation from the board.
Committee membership
Members of the board are encouraged to serve a committee — Executive, Finance, Quality.
Other information
Members will complete background checks and may be asked to test for COVID-19 or other public health conditions. Members may also be asked to provide personal information (i.e., DOB/SSN) for grant and funding regulations.
